One day, they boldly decided to leave the house without informing anyone. Having never lived away from home before, this was their first exhilarating adventure out on their own.
They marched onward, determined and steady, even as twilight began to settle in. Though fatigue weighed on them and they hadn’t eaten since departing from home, a sense of resolve surged within. Darkness approached, and a flicker of fear threatened to creep in. They quickly spotted a vibrant ray of light shining from afar across the empty fields. This light guided them homeward.
They knocked on the door, and an astute old lady opened it. They confidently explained their situation. She recognized the allure of the young girls adorned in gold ornaments. The old lady welcomed them with open arms. She generously provided them with food and a comfortable room to rest.
When they were resting, an old lady confidently contemplated amassing wealth by selling their gold. She acknowledged her age and inability to manage house chores. She devised a plan to charm the girls into undertaking all the household tasks for her without payment.
The next day,
when they woke up, she confidently provided them breakfast. She began to explain that their gold could easily be lost because they were young. She assured them that if they entrusted it to her, she would keep it in a safe place. However, Soni, being clever, had her doubts. She promptly informed her that, according to their family ritual, they always retrieved their gold after taking a bath. They would give it to her afterward. The old woman agreed and proceeded to the kitchen. Once she was in the kitchen, Soni shared her concerns with Roopa.
They confidently locked the kitchen’s door and swiftly made their exit from the old lady’s house. As they dashed away, they spotted their father and his workers on horseback, thoroughly searching the area for them.
Their father acknowledged his mistake &
confidently invited them to return home. He revealed that his female employee had shared the entire truth about their stepmother. This revelation prompted him to ask her to leave their house. After this, Soni and Roopa joyfully embraced life with their father.
